The road less traveled…

We chose a different path…

We chose a different path…

Over twenty years ago we chose a different road. In fact, it was really a path, more than a road. It was literally the days before GPS; these were the days before blogs and podcasts. Cell phones and emails were still pretty new. Most people had not even heard of a thing called homeschooling. Yet a few brave souls had gone before us on this path, and once we found them we felt sure this was a journey we had to take. We were not sure how long the journey would last, and certainly did not know where it would take us. There were just a few books that offered some suggestions and a reason for hope. Those few books, and the example a handful of veteran catholic homeschooling families, offered a new look at what education could be, and a glimpse into a lifestyle centered around learning and living our faith together as a family. What an adventure!

Today the the path looks more like a two lane road with many signs and even a little traffic. There are many books, tons of curriculum, a number of excellent program providers and many resources to help those new on the journey. I hope the many resources ( like this blog) help those who are new. However, one of the best ways to find joy on your journey is to find friend or two to travel with and reach out to moms who have been on this road a while.
