Powerful Prayer apps

I am excited to share two terrific prayer apps. These apps are now my go to choices to start my day.

One is free and the other is by subscription but they are both fantastic and both offers something a little different. I find I enjoy using both daily.

I started using the Hallow app to listen to Ascension’s Bible in a Year podcast with Fr. Mike Schmitz. The podcast follows a daily reading plan from The Great Adventure Bible Timeline with the Biblical scholar Jeff Cavins as a frequent guest. There are many free listening options, but I saw a free trail option to listen with Hallow and I decided to try following along with this app format. I quickly found other features on the app that I began to explore and found ways to include in my day. The Podcast is AMAZING but the app is also! Music, guided rosaries and novenas, prayers, daily reflections, scripture and more can be found on Hallow, in short, bite- sized bits. These are lead by dynamic and inspirational leaders like Jonathan Roumie and Bishop Barrons, as well as Mike Schmiz and Jeff Cavins. Since my phone is almost always with me, it is easy to find moments to listen, reflect and pray. And the more I include those moments in my day, the more I want to find more moments. Much like my fitness tracker pushes me to try for a few more steps, Hallow pushes me to want to find another moment to fit in a song, a prayer, or a meditation.

Amen is a fairly new prayer app. This prayer app is free, and although similar to Hallow, has several unique features, including a family section, with a collection of Brother Francis videos and songs for children. The daily readings, and a beautiful collection of prayers, meditation and scripture readings, can be played as well. This app, developed by the Augustine Institute, like Formed.org, is full of rich catholic content that is engaging and inspiring.
