Sunflowers

A sunny day in late September, surrounded by sunflowers…

our group enjoyed a crisp, early autumn day and a wagon ride.

Excited to find the perfect flowers to bring home, the children ran about the sunflower field searching. They selected their perfect flowers and gathered them up; then piled back into the wagon to return to the farm. They examined their flowers as the wagon slowly bumped along the dirt path.

When they returned home, they carefully placed their flowers in a vase, talked about the day and especially about their flowers.

I wonder…

I notice..

It reminds me of…

These young learners reflected using the questions they learned watching the Nature Journal Connection with the John Muir Laws. They had been practicing using words, pictures and numbers in their nature journals with their nature journal community. At home, many wanted to wonder, write, and draw about their flowers.
